The Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society (OHEHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Oklahoma higher education and promoting a philosophy of higher education heritage.
MISSION
To preserve the heritage and history of higher education in Oklahoma
and
to promote enhanced awareness of higher education's vital role in the state's social, cultural,
economic and educational development.
Sharing common goals, the Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society has partnered with the Oklahoma
Historical Society (OHS) and the Oklahoma State
Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) to develop a number of projects. With our partners, OHEHS is working to establish The Archives of Oklahoma Higher Education, the nation’s first, state archive dedicated to higher education — a permanent collection of materials and artifacts that preserve Oklahoma's unique higher education heritage. OHEHS also assists the Oklahoma Museum of History in maintaining the higher education exhibit at the Oklahoma History Center and conducts the annual Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame, which celebrates its 15th year in 2008. We thank OHS and OSRHE for their continued support and we welcome support from individuals concerned about the preservation and promotion of Oklahoma's higher education heritage to the state and the nation.
