James L. Huston

James L. (Jim) Huston was born and raised in Moline, Illinois, where he attended public schools. He went to Denison University (Granville, Ohio) where he graduated with honors, and then served two years in the U.S. Army. He then attended the University of Illinois, earning his Ph.D. in history in 1980. Since 1980, he has been employed at Oklahoma State University, becoming professor in 1998 and appointed a Regents Professor in 2005. His field is the economic and political history of the United States in the nineteenth century; he has authored four books and twenty-five journal articles.
