Dr. Donna Castle Richardson
Dr. Donna Castle Richardson is currently the Associate Director of the Mid-Continent Comprehensive Center, one of 16 Comprehensive Centers providing technical assistance currently funded by the United States Department of Education. Also, she serves as the Director of Education Technical Assistance Services (EDUTAS) within the Division of Pubic and Community Services in the University of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education."
Dr. Richardson began her career as a television Romper Room teacher in Southwest Oklahoma. She taught kindergarten and 1st grade in Oklahoma City Public Schools and as an adjunct instructor in early childhood education at East Texas State University. She went on to serve as Assistant and Associate Professor of Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she developed a Title XX child care training program.
Dr. Richardson, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Education at Oklahoma City University (OCU), served 20 years at OCU where she held many administrative positions and designed the teacher certification program in Early Childhood. She founded and headed the Family Education Institute for Research and Training. Over the past decade, Dr. Richardson's interest has been in family literacy research, program development in emergent reading, and technical assistance in school improvement. She conducted literacy research for the Oklahoma City Public Schools' Even Start project, validated by the U.S. Department of Education's National Diffusion Network. Her Reading Discovery Tutor Training program was featured in the U.S. Department of Education's document So That Every Child Can Read...America Reads Community and Tutoring Projects. Recently she has developed the program, Reading Discovery: The Family Adventure and she has been nationally recognized for a "Teaching Success" model.
