Bill S. Cole

Bill S. Cole was named president of El Reno Junior College in 1975. During his fourteen-year presidential tenure, he led that college from a one-building campus to a thriving institution with 2,000 students and seven buildings. In 1989, Cole became president of East Central University. His accomplishments at ECU include the construction of a new library, a new university center, a new women’s athletic facility, and a new fine arts center. Endowment funds have produced three academic chairs, four professorships, and two lectureships. Two new student apartment complexes have been constructed. Bill Cole was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1996. Approaching retirement a decade later, he plans to stay active.
