Leonard Campbell became the fourteenth president of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1975. Prior to his appointment as president, he served as superintendent at Western Heights Public Schools. His accomplishments at SWOSU included construction of a new Fine Arts Center and Auditorium; construction of a new maintenance building; and reconstruction of Rankin Williams Fieldhouse. More than a dozen remodeling projects were also accomplished. He retired in 1990, and died in 1995. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2001.
