The Society has a number of ongoing activities, some of them in partnership with the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE). The objective of all of these activities is to fulfill the mission statement of preserving the history and heritage of the higher education people, programs, institutions past, present and future, and helping our state's citizens understand, appreciate and benefit from the state's higher education enterprise.
To these ends, the Society conducts the annual recognition ceremony for distinguished contributors to our state in the Higher Education Hall of Fame, is developing with OHS and OSRHE the nation's first, state, higher education Archive, has provided seed money for the writing of institutional histories for those institutions not having such a record, is developing a record of higher education 'Pioneers' so that their work can be recognized and preserved, and has - with OHS - developed the Higher Education Exhibit housed in the Noble Foundation Gallery on the third floor of the History Center. OHEHS is also in the process of conducting a survey to determine the status of the Archives of each of Oklahoma's institutions of higher education. A list of these resources will be available on the OHEHS website and available for linking to each institution's Archives.
The OHEHS website is a continually changing project, so check back often for updates and new information.
