Clifton L. Warren

Clifton L. Warren served fifteen years as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and professor of English at the University of Central Oklahoma. He was formerly chairman of Creative Studies at UCO, a master’s level program that produced many writers and brought many national artists-in-residence to the campus. Earlier, he taught at Indiana University, Oklahoma City University, and the University of Texas at Arlington. A distinguished writer, critic, columnist and television personality, Warren was a compelling advocate for the arts and intellectual freedom during his career. Retiring in 2000 as dean emeritus to teach creative writing at UCO, Warren was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2001.
