Jerald C. Walker

Jerald C. Walker became the fourteenth president of Oklahoma City University in 1979, and remained in that capacity until being named Chancellor in 1997. Prior to that, he served as Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Religion at Nebraska Wesleyan University; Interim President of John J. Pershing College in Beatrice, Nebraska; Vice President at Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas; and President of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. During Walker’s tenure OCU established a worldwide electronic campus, the budget went from $3.7 million to $43 million, and endowment went up from $2.8 million to $36.9 million. Walker was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1999. He retired in 2001.
