Patricia Kain Knaub

Dr. Patricia Kain Knaub, of Oklahoma State University served as Dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences for eighteen years, from 1989 through December 2007. Shortly after Dr. Knaub joined the faculty and administration of Oklahoma State University, the College of Human Environmental Sciences at Oklahoma State University experienced a ninety percent increase in undergraduate enrollment and a fifty percent increase in graduate students studying in advanced degree programs within the College. Because of Knaub’s leadership, two departments within the College are now ranked among the top ten in the nation in their discipline areas.

In 1994, Knaub was recognized as the Leader of the Year by the Oklahoma Council on Family Relations. Knaub is a nationally recognized scholar in the area of family research. As a result, she serves in many leadership capacities in the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, the National Council on Family Relations, the Oklahoma Council on Family Relations, and the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Knaub’s leadership has helped define and direct the mission of the College to acquire and apply knowledge that develops effective professionals, engages citizens and visionary leaders who promote the physical, social and economic well-being of people.
