The Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society is working in partnership with the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to establish the nation's first state, higher education archive—a permanent collection of materials and artifacts preserving the stories of the creation, growth, successes, and failures of Oklahoma's colleges and universities.

Established in 1994, the archive of Oklahoma Higher Education preserves records of permanent value which have lasting historical, administrative, or legal significance. Retaining these records will ensure preservation of the documentation of various institutions for future generations.

This collection is housed in the Research Division of the Oklahoma Historical Society and is searchable through the society's online catalog.
